Alfons Maria Mucha (Alphonse Mucha) was a Bohemian and Czech painter, illustrator, and graphic artist, living in Paris during the Art Nouveau period, best known for his distinctly stylized and decorative theatrical posters, particularly those of Sarah Bernhardt a famous stage actress at the time. He produced illustrations, advertisements, decorative panels, and designs, which became among the best-known images of the period. When folks think of art Nouveau they likely think of his works. I personally have always loved his work but only really got interested in it after visiting Prague a few years back, learning more about him and later reading a biography about his life and works. While in Prague I saw a lot of his work and decided I needed to do something inspired by it.
Fast forward to now and I am in the middle of organising another magazine shoot. We had a blank slate idea wise as it’s a technology tutorial so I dipped into my “bank” of ideas that I have not got around to realising. A dress the model showed me inspired me to do a modern SciFi Mucha style shoot! Follow me on Instagram to see behind the scenes for the shoot or stop back here to see the final results in a few weeks.
